John has had a solicitor’s practice since earning his law degree in 1993. Before that he worked in senior management at a large hospital in Halifax following obtaining his Masters…
He started his practice at a large downtown firm, then called Field & Field Perraton (now Field Law). After articling and working 3 years as an associate, mainly in corporate/commercial, he moved to start a firm on Edmonton’s south side in Weber Centre. From 1998 to the present, his office has been in Weber Centre. The firms have had a variety of names, including: “Richards Wood Toogood”, “Richards Hunter Toogood” and now “McGee Richard Toogood LLP”. His focus has been on helping families and small/medium business owners with their legal needs: real estate transactions (residential and commercial), estate planning and administration and corporate & commercial transactions and leasing.
In recent years, helping people with estate administration (probating Wills and advising executors) has taken on a greater significance as his clients increasingly face these situations. Additionally, advising in the charity and not-for-profit sector has expanded greatly as a result of working closely with Laird Hunter.
